New Year's Walking Resolution

Chris Thomas, an entrepreneur from Bangalore is firm on his resolution to shed weight and stay healthy through walking: bangalore-man-plans-a-long-walk-to-lose-weight

His goal is to walk a stretch of 350kms from Bangalore to Chennai in a week, an arduous task indeed. The activity would certainly demand lots of heart and courage. To imagine the magnitude at stake, I personally must have walked around 450kms during all hikes in 2009 including 100km dodentocht in a day and Chris aims to finish the most of my yearly plan in a week of the calendar year, simply stupendous!!!

Even Our 100km walk looks a bit minuscule in front Chris's magnum opus. To frame an analogy: 350kms in a week literally sounds like Test Cricket when compared to our One Day dodentocht.

Wish you all the Luck Chris!!!

Thanks Mridula,

Happy New Year to you too.

350kms in 7 days is much more difficult. Trust me!!!

I am curious about weight loss through walks though. If I had shed weight through walks, I would have extinguished myself by now :-)

350 kms with proper breaks and a good sleep is more manageable than 100 kms without sleep, well excepting your power naps! ;-)

Given your reputation to sleep anytime, anywhere, everywhere - did you sleep walk by any chance? ;-)

Cheers.

Its certainly tough, but definitely doable....All the best Chris Thomas.
Hope you achieve your goal of shedding weight....though I hardly lost any weight after 100 kms :(

LoL!!!

The quality to sleep anytime, anywhere and everywhere is a sign of a tranquil mind in control of all the situations all the time :-) Don't you think so? Moreover, the mind is ready to dream new horizons :-) every now and then.

A clarification: I never get walking dreams when I sleep. My dreams in general are much more exotic :-), yielding a highly productive time (at least 300% of usual efficiency) whenever I wake up :-)

Honestly, we (and Noorie et. al. will support) were really pampered by the support staff to finish 100kms in a day. Imagine Chris not having that luxury. In addition, the frequent breaks usually break the rhythm and might pose problems.

As it is, no task is impossible, if you dream it before, just like I do through my power naps :-)

Noorie:

Completely agree!!! It's doable but difficult for sure. I did not shed a pound either :-(

But, I felt more fit for sure and that's more important. Watta say?

Completely agree Guru. We really had the luxury of fruits, water and juice brought to our hands (already with the caps open).
Felt fit for sure and had also received complements from colleagues for looking fitttttt :)
